Сomedy A Midsummer’s Night Dream is a wonderful piece of work written by a genius English playwright William Shakespeare. Three very amusing stories tightly connected with each other fascinate the reader with a numerous love adventures. The reason for that is a potion of a forest spirit Puck. William Shakespeare is the author of the world famous sonnets and plays Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello, as well as comedies Twelfth Night, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and As You Like It. William Shakespeare is the most performed playwright, the works of the great English poet have been on top of the world theatre stages for some centuries already.

”A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a comedy where all the characters find themselves in a situation that completely changes their lives. In the play several plot lines that are closely intertwined with each other and affect each other. The main conflict of the play is a quarrel between the king of the elves of Oberon and his wife, Queen Titania. Because of this quarrel, all the madness of the summer night is happening. After all, Oberon decided to punish the spouse and play a little joke on her: he asks little Pac during sleep to rub Titania’s eyes with a love potion so that the queen fell in love upon waking at the first comer.

This is the story of a simple girl Helena without titles and inheritance. She is the daughter of a talented but poor healer. After the death of her father, the girl becomes a pupil of the Countess of Roussillon. She falls in love with the son of her benefactress Bertram, but he does not want to look at her either, for him only the wealth and high origin is important. To win the favor of her lover, Helen goes to Paris to cure the sick king of France with her father’s recipes.

Wspólnie pokonali wojska zabójców Cezara i podzielili się władzą nad rozległym państwem rzymskim. Podczas podróży do wschodnich prowincji, które przypadły mu w udziale, Antoniusz spotkał się z Kleopatrą, egzotyczną, uwodzicielską królową Egiptu. Ich namiętny romans i wspólne szczęśliwe życie w Aleksandrii zostają zakłócone przez wieści z Rzymu: żona Marka Antoniusza, Fulwia, wspólnie z jego bratem wystąpiła przeciwko Oktawianowi…

W dziele przedstawiony został historyczny spór pomiędzy Antoniuszem i Kleopatrą a Oktawianem Augustem. Shakespeare zachował podstawowe fakty historyczne, jednak część z nich zmodyfikował na potrzeby utworu – taki zabieg zastosował, obarczając Kleopatrę winą za porażkę w bitwie pod Akcjum, mimo że historia nie stwierdza tego jednoznacznie.
