„Piękni i przeklęci” to klasyka literatury amerykańskiej, jedno z największych osiągnięć literackich Fitzgeralda.

In 'Tender is the Night' by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, the reader is transported to the glamorous 1920s French Riviera, where the enigmatic Dick and Nicole Diver take center stage. The novel delves into themes of wealth, power, and the complexities of human relationships, all portrayed through Fitzgerald's exquisite prose and vivid imagery. The non-linear narrative structure adds an element of mystery and intrigue, keeping the reader engaged from start to finish. 'Tender is the Night' stands as a poignant critique of the American Dream and the emptiness that can lie at the heart of seemingly perfect lives. Fitzgerald's own tumultuous life, marked by success, excess, and tragedy, undoubtedly influenced his writing of 'Tender is the Night'. His keen observations of society's elite and his own personal struggles with love and identity are evident throughout the novel. Through the character of Dick Diver, Fitzgerald explores the corrosive effects of wealth and privilege on the human soul. I highly recommend 'Tender is the Night' to readers who appreciate beautifully crafted prose, complex characters, and thought-provoking themes. Fitzgerald's insight into the human condition is both timeless and compelling, making this novel a must-read for fans of classic literature.

Tender Is the Night is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In 1932, Fitzgerald's wife Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald was hospitalized for schizophrenia in Baltimore, Maryland. The author rented the "la Paix" estate in the suburb of Towson to work on this book, the story of the rise and fall of Dick Diver, a promising young psychoanalyst and his wife, Nicole, who is also one of his patients. While working on the book he several times ran out of cash and had to borrow from his editor and agent, and write short stories for commercial magazines. The early 1930s, when Fitzgerald was conceiving and working on the book, were certainly the darkest years of his life, and accordingly, the novel has its bleak elements. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was an American author of novels and short stories, whose works are the paradigmatic writings of the Jazz Age, a term he coined. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.

Fitzgerald won fame and fortune for his first novel, This Side of Paradise. It is an immature work but was the first novel to anticipate the pleasure-seeking generation of the Roaring Twenties. A similar novel, The Beautiful and Damned increased his popularity. The Great Gatsby was less popular than Fitzgerald's early works, but it was his masterpiece and the first of three successive novels that give him lasting literary importance. The lively yet deeply moral novel centers around Jay Gatsby, a wealthy bootlegger. It presents a penetrating criticism of the moral emptiness Fitzgerald saw in wealthy American society of the 1920's. Fitzgerald's next novel, Tender Is the Night, is a beautifully written but disjointed account of the general decline of a few glamorous Americans in Europe. The book failed because readers during the Great Depression of the 1930s were not interested in Jazz Age "parties." Fitzgerald died before he completed The Love of the Last Tycoon, a novel about Hollywood life. Critics generally agree that Fitzgerald's early success damaged his personal life and marred his literary production. This success led to extravagant living and a need for a large income. It probably contributed to Fitzgerald's alcoholism and the mental breakdown of his wife, Zelda. The success also probably led to his physical and spiritual collapse. Fitzgerald spent his last years as a scriptwriter in Hollywood. "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and first published in Colliers Magazine on May 27, 1922. It was subsequently anthologized in his book Tales of the Jazz Age, which is occasionally published as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Other Jazz Age Stories. In 1860 Baltimore, Benjamin is born with the physical appearance of a 70-year-old man, already capable of speech. His father Roger invites neighborhood boys to play with him and orders him to play with children's toys, but Benjamin obeys only to please his father. At five, Benjamin is sent to kindergarten but is quickly withdrawn after he repeatedly falls asleep during child activities. When Benjamin turns 12, the Button family realizes that he is aging backwards. At the age of 18, Benjamin enrolls in Yale College, but is sent home by officials, who think he is a 50-year-old lunatic. In 1880, when Benjamin is 20, his father gives him a control of Roger Button & Co. Wholesale Hardware. He meets the young Hildegarde Moncrief, a daughter of General Moncrief, and falls in love with her. Hildegarde mistakes Benjamin for a 50-year-old brother of Roger Button; she prefers older men and marries him six months later, but remains ignorant of his condition. Years later, Benjamin's business has been successful, but he is tired of Hildegarde because her beauty has faded and she nags him. Bored at home, he enlists in the SpanishAmerican War in 1898 and achieves great triumph in the military, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He retires from the army to focus on his company, and receives a medal.
